About the ILA
Mission statement
The ILA was formed in 1989 as a special interest group to promote the role of lawyers in the insolvency profession generally and to advance the theory and practice of insolvency administration. It provides a forum for lawyers practising insolvency law to co-operate on matters of professional interest and to represent the Association's view to Government and to other professional bodies having an interest in insolvency practice.
Full membership is available to lawyers who hold an insolvency licence or who can otherwise demonstrate a substantial insolvency practice.
Associate membership is available to those lawyers who do not fulfil the criteria for full membership.
For those involved in full-time teaching and research involving insolvency and allied subjects, academic advisory group membership is available. The academic advisory group members meet regularly to consider areas of insolvency law requiring clarification and/or reform.
Judicial and overseas memberships are also available.
